Swimmers fall to Division II CW Post, 145-92

Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey’s women’s swimming and diving team hosted the Pioneers of Division II CW Post on Friday at TCNJ’s Aquatic Center. CW Post recorded the win with a 145-92 victory to improve to 7-3 overall, while the Lions fall to 1-2 on the year.

TCNJ’s senior diver Lee Swanson (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro-South) captured a first in the one and three meter diving events with her scores of 257.18 and 301.50, respectively. In just her second meet of the season, Swanson a returning All-American has already qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division III Championships.  Her score in the three meter event, broke TCNJ's school record as surpassed the mark set in 1997 by Diane Maiese with a 292.82.

Junior Ava Kiss (North Brunswick, NJ/Stuart Country Day) had a strong showing at the meet for the Lions as she won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.62. She also finished in second place in the 100 butterfly with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 57.78 and was part of TCNJ’s second place 200 medley relay team (1:54.66).

Joining her on the second place relay foursome were junior Christine Marino (Scotch Plains, NJ/Mt. St. Mary Academy), junior Lauren Pfeifer (Freehold, NJ/Red Bank Catholic), and sophomore Brittany Collyer (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township).

Collyer recorded a fourth in the 500 freestyle in 26.06, while also placing third in the 100 freestyle in 56.94.

Freshman Stephanie Seto (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) finished in second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:17.89, while also taking third in the 500 freestyle in 5:25.79. She was also part of the Lions’ second place 200 freestyle relay team that collected a time of 1:43.37 in the race. Joining her on theat relay were senior Catherine Benigno (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), freshman Ashley Robb (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), and senior Julie Nami (Yardville, NJ/Steinert).
